It appears that people with aol.com and redffmail.com email accounts may be experiencing problems with receiving automated email from this forum server. Sorry, at the moment I can only suggest that you change to a different email account for use with this forum.

Any member that would like an invitation to set up a Googlemail (Gmail) account (which seems to work well with the forum) just PM or email a request.

If anybody has problems with other email accounts please let us know, so at least we can pre-warn members of the problem.

dear members
i am new in the forum and new in metallizing
i have 4 old metco flame gun ( model 4E and type Y) but new with many parts, but there is one problem to find a propane nozzle (P1/8)
where it's possible to find one or two?
what kind of wire and what tickness is the best for corrosion?
(99.9% zn or 85%zn and 15% al)
what is the best solution to clean and remove old grease in metco gearbox?
what kind of modern grease must i put in?
what kind of sand for the sand blasting unit?
i think it's enough for the first mail
thanks

  Micro Hardness (Vickers) by HVOF
Posted by: Alexangel1226 - 09-17-2006, 03:54 PM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (14)

Gordon,

This is Alex. First, i would like to comment on the new forum interface, much professional and better.

Regarding my question on microhardness sprayed by HVOF. I would like to know what are the factors that affect the microhardness of a HVOF coating. If my mirco metallorgraphy has pass the photo standard, what would possibly be the factors which fails the vickers hardness test. Would increasing the density of coating help? or oxide concentration? as oxide will increase the coating hardness(Rockwell).

To increase the density or microhardness, what should be the key parameters to adjust or look into? stand-off distance? HVOF fuel or O2 gas mass flow? or turntable speed?

Pls advice.Thanks

Regards,
Alex

  Inquiry on surface engineering companies
Posted by: JarvisNOV - 09-11-2006, 10:05 PM - Forum: Products and Services - Replies (7)

I'm looking for companies (preferably in the US, but not required) which specialize in applying high-grade tungsten carbide *to stainless steel plungers* (2in-4.5in diameter, 10-12in in length) and who can machine the plungers after tungsten carbide application. These plungers are used in high pressure fluid pumps (up to 50,000psi). If anyone possesses excess capacity and would like to increase their business from a Fortune 500 publically-listed firm, please feel free to send me an email with a price quote (per plunger)! My needed volumes are rough, but will be close to 100/month with a consistent and timely delivery. Please form your quote to include S&H.

  linear indication
Posted by: simonlee - 09-11-2006, 06:14 AM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (5)

We rough machined the Incoloy 909 in the solution condition. Then perform aging heat treatment, final machining and FPI. However many linear indication found and those indication is about 0.010 inch to 0.020 inch. We had machined this material for many years and never encounter this problem. We do not know how this occurred.

Are those linear indications caused by machining, heat treatment process, forging process or material problems?
Has anyone suggest us a right way to solve this trouble?

Thanks in advance!

Simon

For the time being, uploading attachment files direct to the forum is disabled. A bug in the new forum software has been causing a few problems with attaching jpeg and gif image files. Please link to images and files using the "insert image and hyperlink tools (preferred method anyway). If your image or file can not be made available to the Internet, then please email the attachment and we will place it within your post.

Apologies to all members and particularly simonlee.
